The Toronto Raptors and its fans had extremely high expectations for Scottie Barnes coming into his second season. The reigning Rookie of the Year dazzled in his first season and shocked many of the NBA world when he took the award ahead of the likes of Cade Cunningham and the more prominent Evan Mobley. Perhaps with the weight of the expectations being a little bit too much, Barnes struggled early on in the season and though he has put together a good season, it has not quite been to the level that we may have thought.

Barnes has shown lately that there is reason for optimism in the last quarter of the season but I am willing to go well beyond that and say a big leap is coming and it is coming soon. A variety of factors will show the NBA even more into why Masai Ujiri and the Raptors front office is so high on their young star. Things seemed to have made a turn for the better in Toronto, and I have reason to believe it will take an even bigger turn for Scottie Barnes.
