Jose Calderon is a fan favorite to this day for his time with the Toronto Raptors and on this day exactly 14 years ago, March 29th, 2009 he equaled the franchise records for most assists in a single game with 19 in the Raptors’ 134-129 victories over the Chicago Bulls. Damon Stoudemire originally set the mark in 1996 against the Houston Rockets and Calderon also reached the mark again in 2011 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Kyle Lowry has also joined the 19 assists club with his 2021 performance against the Boston Celtics but three three share the record today though Calderon is the only one to have done it twice.

This is the ON THIS DAY in Raptors history series. All throughout the year I will be dropping videos like this recounting historical events in Toronto’s basketball history on the exact same day, years later.
